Dental Check Ups

Scheduling regular dental check ups is vital to help you maintain good oral health. These visits allow the dentist to examine your teeth and gums, spot any potential issues and provide you with advice.

As a general rule, most patients should have a dental check up once a year but the frequency varies from patient to patient, depending on oral hygiene, periodontal condition and the risk of tooth decay. Your dentist will advise you the frequency they recommend. If you wish to be seen more frequently, there are options available and you can discuss these with your dentist.

At your check up appointment, the dentist will examine your mouth, teeth, gums and tongue. They will also enquire about your general health and medical history. If necessary, they may also take x-rays.

A full oral cancer screening is also conducted at all of our check up appointments. So that is why it’s important to come along for a dental check up, even if you have a full denture etc – to ensure this regular oral cancer screening is done.

If you notice any irregularities in your mouth at all – please do not wait until your next check up appointment to have those looked at – please contact us and we will get an appointment made to have any concerns you have checked out.
