Sedation

Our dentist, Ross Green provides Conscious Intravenous (IV) sedation in the practice. This is an ideal treatment for patients with severe dental anxiety or for those undergoing lengthy treatments. It essentially allows patients to feel calm, relaxed and at ease during dental procedures through the use of IV sedation. It helps to create an insensitivity to pain without any loss of consciousness.

Conscious IV sedation is very safe and it involves a sedative medication being delivered directly into a patient’s bloodstream through an IV line.

Most people who receive conscious IV sedation feel drowsy and have little to no memory of treatment when the sedation wears off.

Please rest assured that all our dentists are all very used to dealing with anxious patients – it’s not uncommon for patients to feel nervous coming to the dentist – but this is a good option for those who are exceptionally anxious and would otherwise struggle to come along for regular visits.

If you wish to book a consult with Ross to explore the options regarding having dental treatment done under Concious IV Sedation, please click here and one of our team will be happy to get that booked in for you.

  • “This was a big deal for me after all the historical trauma I faced as a child attending a dentist. I was in extreme pain with an infection and had to face my fear. All the staff in Alford are very patient with me, and Ross with his calm collective manner, explains every step of my treatments, putting me at ease. I no longer have that heavy fear, I thank you all :))))”

  • “Joined the Alford dental practice about 5 years ago. As a nervous slightly phobic dental patient I have been so pleased to finally find somewhere where the patient is listened to. Nothing is too much trouble and I could not be more pleased with the excellent services of the dentists and friendliness of all the staff.”

  • “Before I came to this dentist and saw Justin, I had a severe fear of dentists. I would have to be sedated to have any work done. My mind was put totally at ease and now no longer fear going. All the staff are wonderful. Would totally recommend this dentist.”

  • “I am usually dentist phobic, particularly when it comes to the bit that involves needles. I can quite honestly say this is the first dentist I’ve ever visited, that I find pleasurable and relaxing, I have had the odd moment where I could almost drift off during a dental procedure. Sounds odd I guess. But not if you’re in the care of a dentist who’s sensitive to his patients needs, reassuring, gentle and professional while working with your teeth and the person they’re connected to, as well as friendly and approachable. I am no longer a dentist phobic person. Although saying that I will not go anywhere other than Youngs Dental Smiles. Their staff also friendly, helpful and professional. The practice is spotless, comfortable and has a relaxed welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommended.”
